Upon arrival in Patna, meet a Yatra tour representative and proceed towards Bodhgaya.
Located in the Gaya district of Bihar, Bodhgaya is renowned worldwide as a Buddhist pilgrimage centre. It is this place only where Gautama Buddha had attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree. Similar to Kushinagar, Lumbini and Sarnath, it is one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage centres in the world.
On your arrival in Bodhgaya, check-in at the hotel and ease yourself. After relaxing for some time at the hotel room, you can step out to explore the place on your own.
Following a divine experience at this holy place, come back to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 2 - Sightseeing in Bodhgaya
Freshen up in the morning and get ready for commencing your sightseeing tour of the place.
Nothing can be a good start than visiting the magnificent Mahabodhi Temple. Founded by the great Mauryan emperor Ashoka and later restored by Sir Alexander Cunningham, this temple is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple complex houses a diamond throne, which is locally referred to as a Vajrasana. Lying east of the Bodhi Tree, this temple enshrines a shimmering black stone statue of Lord Buddha. This temple soars up to a height of about 170 feet, surmounted by Chatras that are considered as a symbol of religious sovereignty. The entire temple complex is dotted with votive stupas, dating back to around 2500 years.
While here, pay homage at the sacred Bodhi Tree where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment. The present tree is considered probably the 5th succession of the original tree. It was here that Buddha sat for meditation facing the east of the tree.
Afterwards, move towards Chankramana – the place closely associated with the enlightenment of Gautama Buddha. He walked up and down at this site during the third week, following enlightenment. It is believed that wherever he put his foot, a lotus bloomed up.
Next, you can pay your visit to another major attraction of the place, Ratnagarh. The place has an important religious significance among Buddhists as here Lord Buddha’s body emanated five colours.
Thereafter, proceed towards Animesh Lochan Chaitya. It is this place where Buddha spent one week gazing at the Bodhi Tree with great gratitude and reverence. As per local beliefs, it is considered that he did not wink his eyes even once while looking at the tree.
Later, you can visit other famous attractions of the place. Some of the major attractions that you can visit are the Tibetan Monastery, Thai Temple and Monastery, Burmese Temple and Buddhist Monastery of Bhutan.
After a spiritual sightseeing tour of the place, retire to the hotel for an overnight stay.
